On November 7th 1965 there was a fire at the nearby George IV Whiskey warehouse that was a disaster for the local whiskey industry that had held the town through economic adversity across multiple decades. Despite the unusually heavy rainfall that has come across the town in recent months, the fire continued through the night and tore the building down to brick. This is not the first fire to take the site, and there is a foreboding dread that suggests it is not the last.Presence of new groups in the town has caused a rift between certain residents since their arrival around the time of the Burryman's Parade and the Ferry Fair, but locals are reluctant to make comment on any potential cause of the outbreak and no evidence was recovered regarding the cause of the fire.
Locals had reported activity in the woods through the nights in the autumn which was thought to be nothing more than rumour. Although upon investigation, there were new structures erected in the east woods area which suggested suspicious activity between certain crowds.
While there are no certainties to the purpose of the structures, which may just be the product of bored youth, it does strike as something unusual with the disastrous fire and the disappearance of some individuals from the town in recent months.
To report further happenings, there have been discoveries of distressed, infected or even dead sea life washing ashore since earlier in the year. While this has taken place before, it's not something expected at this time of year and is unfolding at a higher severity than initially thought.
Each of the the above events seem to have began or centred around The Burryman's parade of this past August, with new comers taking a particular interest in this part of the town's culture. In recent years, the parade has become partially divisive amongst locals, with some questioning the origins of the ritualistic practice and if it should even continue. Considering that the ceremony dates back as early as the 11th century. It's difficult, or even offensive for others to imagine this being scrubbed from the town's events and history.
